Toxic friends

Friendships are a very important part of our daily lives. We all love having friends, and nobody ever wants to be alone. Sadly though, not all people we call friends are real or genuine. Yes, toxic friends exist too.

It is important to have friends who support you and your goals and who help you move forward in life.

If your friends make you feel bad or miserable about yourself, drain you emotionally, or if they don’t help you progress in life, then you may be dealing with toxic friends.

Here are 8 signs of toxic friends you should never ignore.

Signs Of Toxic Friends

1. Toxic friends always pull you down

They may bring you down by downplaying your accomplishments to make you feel like you didn’t accomplish anything big or by pointing out your flaws or your insecurities in public.

Like you could be feeling yourself and all of a sudden they would start talking about your weight or how your makeup is not blended or that one body part you are insecure about.

2. They are never happy for you

Friends who never want good things to happen to you are toxic.

You may notice this when something big happens in your life.

When you share the news with your friend, they’re not genuinely happy.

You will know that a person is fake happy when they don’t even say anything back, change the subject, or say something like “That’s cool”.

Like girl, if they were real, they would applaud you every time you win.

3. They are not loyal

Watch out for people who are always talking behind their other friends’ backs.

If they are always negatively talking about their other friends to you, then chances are they’re also talking about you behind your back.

Toxic friends love drama and they may also come to report to you about what other people said behind your back.

If they were loyal to you, other people wouldn’t feel comfortable talking bad about you in front of them.

4. Toxic friends threaten your values

Toxic friends never support your decisions or your values when they don’t agree with them.

If your friend makes you feel like you should compromise your values, or if they enjoy making you do things you personally don’t participate in, they’re toxic.

5. They are not supportive

If you talk to your friend about your goals or your dreams and the only thing they have to say is something like “That’s literally not gonna happen” or “ I don’t think that you can achieve that”, you need to let them go.

Toxic friends don’t support you when you have big goals because they feel threatened, so they find ways to discourage you.

6. They are always competing with you

Toxic friends are obsessed with keeping score.

If your friend always wants a better job than yours, to dress better than you, or if they always want to be doing better than you’re doing, they’re toxic.

Friendship shouldn’t feel like a competition.

If you always find yourself feeling like you don’t trust your friend enough to share the good news with them, you should be careful.

7. There’s an imbalance in communication

If you’re the one who is always texting, making plans, and basically putting more effort into the whole friendship, you’re most likely dealing with a fake friend.

Fake friends only talk to you when it’s convenient for them or if they want something from you.

8. They are jealous of you

Toxic friends hate to see you move forward in life.

They get angry when you hang out with other people because they always want to keep you where they can see you so that they can stunt your growth.

Be careful of people who never respect your privacy or who never want you to be around your other friends.

Real friends always want the best for you, they understand that you have a separate life too, and they never get mad simply because you hung out with other people.
